The Story

Vintage (1940s) tea trio, consisting of a tea plate, saucer and tea cup. The items were manufactured and released during the 1940s by Simpsons Potters Ltd. as part of their Ambassador series. The items are in the Marlborough design decorated in Simpsons Potters Chetwynd pattern, which has been discontinued. The Chetwynd pattern displays a series of adorable polka dots along a scalloped and fluted rim followed by a weave work motif embossed in the porcelain itself then a garland of tan leaves with gorgeous yellow and orange-red tulips in the process of blooming. A dark tan berry pattern growing on a vine has also been designed within the garland.

The Soho Pottery Co. was founded in 1904 by Samuel J Simpson at the Soho Pottery works in Tunstall. In 1918 the company relocated to the elder works in Cobridge. In 1944 the company was changed to Simpsons Potters Ltd.

This is a beautiful winter breakfast trio.
