The Story

Designed and manufactured by Alfred Meakin, The Kingsdale pattern was retailed during the 1940s in four varieties, one being titled the Kingsdale maroon cream while the other three were Kingsdale cobalt blue, Kingsdale green and Kingsdale maroon white.

This vintage fine porcelain creamer is beautifully decorated in the Kingsdale maroon cream pattern which displays a maroon band containing gold scroll and leaf patterns directly beneath the rim with gold swag beneath the band, all set against a cream background. Alfred Meakin Ltd was set up in 1875and operated from the Royal Albert, Victoria and Highgate potteries in Tunstall. In 1976 Alfred Meakin Ltd, became Myott-Meakin before becoming part of the Churchill group.

The creamer is stamped underneath in gold Alfred Meakin England.

There is slight fading of the gold swag beneath the maroon band on one side of the creamer and on the handle. It also has two very tiny chips on the rim (please see picture), which are hardly visible, but can be felt.

Height: 8.4 cm Diameter of base 5.4 cm Diameter of rim: 7 cm
